A Columbia J-school graduate has written an article about the changing type faces of American highway signs for the NYT magazine. The link to the accompanying slideshow is broken now, but seems extremely promising, requires a NYT login.

Article in the IHT on Helvetica turning 50 from earlier this year here, pegged to an exhibition at the MoMA and a recent documentary on the classic font, the official website of the film here.
