So Lin may be the only person who knows this but in college I had a crush on the congo player in my Afro-Brazilian dance class. Nothing ever came out of it-- we talked on the phone once because I cooked up some excuse to interview him for the school paper. Lin and I went to a concert of his at Berklee. And I wrote a few poems. End of story, or so I thought.
Fastforward seven years, and tonight for some reason when I walked in the door from yoga this congo player came to mind. So I google-stalked him. (I just learned that word this afternoon from my intern. They keep me young.) I google-stalked the congo player and I found his blog. With photos of his new baby. And a link to his company (an ad group that works with Dentsu), the album he's listening to--entries that will tell me more about him that I could have possibly found out way back in 2000. And after a few clicks, a recent photo of him, handsome as ever. It's rather heartwarming to read his blog. Because a) he's a kind guy who loves his wife and kid. And b) he has an interesting, meaningful life. And c) this proves I haven't spent my entire adult life going goo-goo in Wankerville. (I'm kidding.) Once again, I'm a bit in awe of technology/the web. A few more experiences like this and I might just join Facebook. I'm an invite or two from breaking down.

It will be so fun if you link his blog here, and then he finds out from his google analytics stats, and read your entry and....
Wow.
haha, that's awesome. I remember that drumming session as well - I actually think about it pretty often (for different reasons). I wish I could find more like it. I owe you thanks to inviting me to cool things - and I see you've succumbed to the procrastination pit that is Facebook. I didn't even know I had that much to do til I joined and spent WAY TOO MANY HOURS on it immediately.
