Haruki

My Japanese literature professor at Tufts knew Haruki Murakami when Haruki was in residence at Princeton, writing The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. My sensei called him Haruki, so I've always done the same. Yuki found this fan website(村上春樹中毒者のためのインターネット情報源), through which I found some very cool interviews with him. I made a screengrab of the manuscript above (the first page of the Wild Sheep Chase) from the Paris Review website. The full image is here, but the interview is pay-per-view only. Another amazing site is the New York Times Books page which has Haruki speaking to author Jonathan Lethem in English, Haruki also reads parts of "Super-Frog Saves Tokyo" in English and Japanese. The complete archive of New York Times author interviews is here. There are coversations with everyone from Anne Tyler and Langston Hughes to Barbara Ehrenreich, the author of Nikel and Dimed. Ehrenreich also has a blog on the Huffington Post.
